Eksish - Goodbye Summer

Eksish - goodbye summer

Eksish waves farewell to another season with a brilliant mix spanning broken house music, minimal spaced out tracks, breaks and electro. The Bristol-based DJ celebrated a Summer that saw her topping bills across the UK, as well as opening up festival stages and clubs for names such as Digby, Zip, Hodge and Stephanie Sykes.

Effortlessly clean selections are presented tightly in this hour long mix, showcasing her ability to move in and out of the different fringes and variations of dance music.

The mix starts with jazzy undertones, setting a president of dissonance and disorientation which is often present through the rest of the mix. However, these off-key tracks and beats are delightfully pieced together and the mix carefully progresses through chuggy minimal, breakbeat, techno, skippy house and glitchy garage. The selections rarely seem to be one thing or another, with each track failing to fall into a clear and defined musical grouping. A good studio mix should present interesting ideas while giving a listener a bit of an idea about what they might be able to expect when listening to them in the club. This mix certainly does that, and it’s also a hell of a lot of fun.
